The Glory of God

Summary

We live in an environment trapped in self-effort. Most people have a mindset established in the Law of Moses, which demands obedience to a list of rules that are impossible to keep; trying to abide by these leaves us feeling ashamed and condemned. Although the law was perfect and glorious, it was only temporary; the current covenant of grace, which is eternal, is even more glorious. Unlike the law, which requires us to work hard to change ourselves, grace transforms us into Jesus’ image without any striving on our part. The Book of John shows the importance of believing instead doing as the path to receiving eternal life; in it, John the Baptist emphasized the necessity of faith in Jesus Christ as the Messiah. The all-encompassing grace that Jesus offers us applies to all areas of our lives, not just to the times when we fall short. Accepting it gives us more than enough provision for overwhelming, abundant life that was never possible under the law.
