Daily Devotionals - August 2025

And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation” (Luke 1:50).

The fear of God prevents us from being too proud and haughty; morality, an upright character, and godly principles spring from this fear. Passing on the lessons found in the Scriptures to future generations allows God to have mercy and compassion on us, our children, our grandchildren, and our great-grandchildren.

A good man leaves an inheritance [of moral stability and goodness] to his children’s children, and the wealth of the sinner [finds its way eventually] into the hands of the righteous, for whom it was laid up” (Proverbs 13:22, AMPC).

This is true on both the physical and spiritual levels. Wise and forward-thinking parents make provisions for their children’s financial future, while also ensuring that future generations learn the biblical principles they need.

Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase (Proverbs 13:11, NKJV).

Money acquired fraudulently is robbery, no matter how we try to dress it up with a fancy name and call it “earning an income.” This applies both on an individual as well as a corporate level. By contrast, money gained honestly is a true blessing that won’t vanish.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth” (Luke 12:15).

When Jesus was preaching and teaching to the crowds, He warned them not to let greed diminish the quality of their lives. A materialistic mindset tricks people into thinking they need material things to be happy, but life is much more than collecting “stuff.”

August 8

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender” (Proverbs 22:7).

Wise money management affects us on every level. Being financially wealthy isn’t so much about the size of our income but our attitude toward money; those who trust God in this area open themselves up to blessings.

There are precious treasures and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a self-confident and foolish man swallows it up and wastes it” (Proverbs 21:20, AMPC).

The truly wise know the value of saving for a rainy day, but foolish people give no thought for the future and consume everything they have. Having confidence in God to continually supply us with what we need is a sign of wisdom.

The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death” (Proverbs 21:6).

God sees accumulating wealth by deceit and lies as an abomination. It’s a sure road to destruction; those vain enough to think they can succeed doing this will learn otherwise.

For ‘the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness’ (1 Corinthians 10:26, NKJV).

We’re stewards of everything God created for us. As believers who’ve been given the same authority as Jesus Christ, we have the responsibility to respect our environment and the life in it.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:16, 17).

Trusting in and relying on the Scriptures to teach us brings us to a point of perfection. This perfection doesn’t come from anything we do, but from God.

I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase(1 Corinthians 3:6, 7).

Apart from God, nothing we do by our own efforts will prosper. Spreading the gospel involves planting and watering the seed of His Word by faith, but He’s the one who brings it to fruition.

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34).

Righteousness comes from believing strongly enough in what God says to obey it. When nations exalt and honor God through their obedience, He’ll exalt them in return, but sin brings its own punishment.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance” (Psalm 33:12).

Countries governed according to God’s Word are prosperous and blessed, but they open themselves up to evil when they turn away and ignore the truth found in the Bible. In these last days we’re seeing clear examples of this.
