And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).

We can receive God’s best by learning to think like Him and bringing our thoughts into alignment with His. This allows us to learn what God’s beautiful plan is for our lives.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8, NKJV).

We eventually become what we think about and believe, which is why it’s so important to keep our focus on Jesus and not on worldly issues. If there’s ever any question or confusion over the importance of our thoughts in our Christian walk, this Scripture spells it out with perfect clarity.

My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding (Psalm 49:3).

God’s Word is overflowing with eternal truths; meditating on it brings us life-saving wisdom and godly understanding. Studying it establishes it in our minds and roots it in our hearts so that we’ll eventually find ourselves speaking it automatically in every situation.

27Sep

September 27

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer (Psalm 19:14).

There’s a connection between what we believe in our hearts and what we verbalize. If our hearts are turned toward God and our motives are pure, our speech will reflect that.

A brother offended is harder to be won over than a strong city, and [their] contentions separate them like the bars of a castle (Proverbs 18:19, AMPC).

God gives us close-knit families as one way of expressing His love for us. The devil hates the family put together by God, and therefore tries to destroy it from within. We defeat the enemy by refusing to let family disagreements separate us from our loved ones.

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son (1 John 5:11).

Jesus’ birth brought God to us in human form, so that we might be reconnected to Him and inherit eternal life. All who accept the Son receive this life.

24Sep

September 24

Glory to God in the heavenly heights, peace to all men and women on earth who please him (Luke 2:14, MSG).

Jesus lived according to the Spirit, not according to the flesh, which was pleasing to the Father. Everything He said and did was to glorify God. Christ in us empowers us also to be pleasing to God.

23Sep

September 23

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48).

We can’t begin to approach perfection by our own actions; this is possible only through Jesus. Letting Him live inside us makes us holy, blameless, and worthy to stand in God’s presence.

22Sep

September 22

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17).

Jesus is the perfect image of the Father’s love, and we’re perfected through Him. When we realize that, we won’t have to wait until we get to heaven to experience God’s best—the manifestations of what Jesus is can begin in us right now.

21Sep

September 21

Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: ‘Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons; and concerning the work of My hands, you command Me’ (Isaiah 45:11, NKJV).

God has given us dominion over all He has made. Believers have the same authority as Jesus; when we command the binding or releasing of something on the earth in His name, it’s also bound or released in heaven.

20Sep

September 20

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life] (Proverbs 18:21, AMPC).

Our words have the potential to transfer what already exists in the supernatural realm into the natural realm; everything we say brings consequences, either good or bad. Faith in the authority of the spoken word brings to pass in our lives either blessings or curses.

19Sep

September 19

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases (Psalm 103:2, 3, NKJV).

God’s benefits include all the blessings He pours on us out of His great love. Sin is a spiritual sickness; Jesus, the Great Physician, took all of mankind’s sins onto Himself when He went to the cross.

18Sep

September 18

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him” (James 5:14, 15).

Jesus made healing available to us as one of His finished works; permanent healing is manifested when we accept His Word by faith. Neither sickness nor sin are God’s will.

17Sep

September 17

A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones (Proverbs 14:30, NIV).

There’s an amazing connection between what we think and how it affects us physically, and God didn’t make any mistakes when He designed us this way. Meditating on His Word lets His peace move through us and keeps out envy and negative emotions.

16Sep

September 16

Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength (Isaiah 26:4).

We can’t trust in our own strength, intellectual capabilities, financial expertise, college education, or in any glittery things the world values; they’ll eventually fail us. The true source of strength that won’t crumble when everything else is sinking is found only in God.

15Sep

September 15

Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving (Colossians 4:2, NKJV).

Thanksgiving is a powerful component to our prayers that makes them more effective. Earnest prayer with the right attitude comes straight from a grateful heart.

14Sep

September 14

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him (1 John 5:14, 15, NKJV).

God always hears His children’s prayers. As our heavenly Father, He wants us to approach Him boldly, with no fear. This is plainly and simply stated, with no guesswork involved.

13Sep

September 13

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:16).

Prayer is a powerful weapon that helps us win the spiritual battles we face each day. We don’t have to be perfect to pray, we just need to have the right spirit. Prayer and healing go hand in hand; when our hearts are in our prayers, God hears us.

12Sep

September 12

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1, 2, NIV).

In painful times when it’s difficult to find the strength to carry on, the Bible gives us multiple examples of perseverance. Noah and Moses demonstrated perseverance by responding in faith to God’s Word. Believers who accepted Jesus’ message learned the reality of God’s promises when Jesus was resurrected; this gave them the courage to persevere.

11Sep

September 11

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised (Hebrews 10:36, NIV).

It’s hard to follow through on what we know is the right thing to do when life throws challenges in our face. When we’re tempted to give up and throw in the towel, God reminds us to persevere. His promises are based on what Jesus has already done; the strength to endure comes from Him.

10Sep

September 10

‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’ (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).

Reading this and all the other promises God makes to us in the Scriptures reveals that He only wants good for us. Life can be a confusing puzzle, but when we study and meditate on His Word, all the puzzle pieces begin to fall into place. The big picture He envisions for us is overwhelmingly joyful.

09Sep

September 9

The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that (Proverbs 29:25, MSG).

Letting ourselves become more concerned about what others think than what God thinks makes us less effective as Christians. When we’re spreading the Gospel of Grace, the world will disapprove and hate us the same way it hated Jesus during His earthly ministry; however, we can’t worry about others’ opinions of us.

08Sep

September 8

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well (Psalm 139:14, NKJV).

We aren’t accidents that just evolved; God, Himself, deliberately made us in His own image. We can praise Him because His works are indeed marvelous. We’re at the top of that list of works.

07Sep

September 7

If you let people treat you like a doormat, you’ll be quite forgotten in the end (Proverbs 29:21, MSG).

Being humble and avoiding pride and arrogance is good, but part of having godly wisdom is also maintaining healthy self-esteem. When our self-respect shows through in everything we say and do, others will notice. This makes our message of the gospel even more powerful.

06Sep

September 6

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:12, 14, NKJV).

Accepting Jesus into our life and receiving the Holy Spirit enables Him to reveal to us godly wisdom, eternal truths, and things hidden from the world. The world operates in the natural realm—it can’t understand and won’t accept the supernatural realm.

05Sep

September 5

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise” (Hebrews 10: 35, 36).

Obeying God’s Word gives us confidence that we’re behaving according to His will. The world tries to take that confidence away, but we must hold fast to it. When life gets difficult, we mustn’t give up; God always keeps His promises.

04Sep

September 4

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16, NIV).

Religion tells us to be meek and timid in God’s presence, but the Scriptures tell us the exact opposite. Believers have been made righteous and holy through Jesus; because we’re the righteousness of God, we have a level of confidence the world doesn’t have.

03Sep

September 3

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves (James 1:22).

What we speak certainly is important, but our actions show the world whether or not we really believe what we say. Those professing to be Christians must be careful that their behavior demonstrates their belief and reflects God’s teachings.

02Sep

September 2

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers (Ephesians 4:29).

Words are powerful; as believers, we must realize the authority of what we say. We can bring good or evil to pass, depending on what comes out of our mouth. Our words should therefore line up with God’s Word.

01Sep

September 1

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour (Ephesians 5:1, 2).

If we’re to demonstrate God’s love to the world in the same manner as Jesus did, we must be willing to take action and let God order our steps in our Christian walk. Following God goes beyond simply trusting what we think intellectually or feel emotionally is right; it involves studying His Word and letting the Holy Spirit reveal the way we should go.
