If we could earn the grace of God in any way, then it would not be grace. Last week I began sharing revelations about enhancing the flow of God’s grace in our lives and how pride hinders that flow. This week, I would like to share insight on how we can practically humble ourselves and not operate in pride. Child of God, grace is proportionate to humility. The degree to which we submit ourselves to God’s Word will be the degree to which we find grace. Submission means getting under God’s mission. Doing or speaking what God said instead of what we sometimes want to do or speak is a practical way that we can humble ourselves. This area of humility has been greatly misunderstood by many people, especially Christians. Being humble does not mean that you are a doormat for people to walk on and abuse. Also, to downplay a great talent or gift that God has given you for fear of people calling you arrogant is not humility, it is false humility. False humility is still pride. True humility is agreeing with what God’s Word says about who you are and doing what God’s Word says you can do, regardless of what others think. Another practical way that we can keep ourselves from operating is pride is to ask God what He wants us to do and being willing to do it. Asking God puts us in a position of humility; grace will always flow to us more abundantly in that position.
Father, we cannot live a successful Christian life without your guidance. We submit ourselves to your will for our lives and we declare that we are free from pride. Jesus has set us free and we trust that the Holy Spirit will help us walk in that freedom daily. It is in Jesus’ name that we pray and believe. Amen.
